Snug As Bugs With Mozambique Channel In Our Wake

Hi Everyone!

This is a note to say we arrived safely in Richard’s Bay, South Africa after receiving a kindly escort from the resident pods of dolphins, whales, sea birds, Des Cason South Africa’s famous-among-sailors volunteer weather router, and the OSASA team of South African volunteers who helped immensely by advocating smooth Covid Entry Procedures over the last year and then guiding sailors through the process as we arrived. We are tied up in a Zululand Yacht Club berth for a couple weeks to enjoy the incredibly warm welcome and hospitality of our new South African friends, and more than a few “braais.” (South African word for BBQ.)

How we got from “there” to “here” includes a series of adventures in Tanzania and a sail Southward through some of the most challenging waters in the world: The Mozambique Channel. All of this has been waiting to be posted, struggling as I was against sluggish internet in Tanzania and the culling of a MOUNTAIN of photographs I took while we traveled inland. I think I’m close to having it all ready for you. I’ll be posting everything up over the next few weeks.

So, put on your reading goggles, and enjoy the latest Oddgodfrey sea yarns collected from Tanga, Tanzania and Southward.
